About the PI

Professional background in brief

Basudeb grew up with exotic green nature in a small village called Nabin Manua in West Bengal, India. He grasped the limited educational resources in the native place and then moved to the nearest city Kolkata for higher studies. He received his Bachelor's in Chemistry from Asutosh College, Kolkata, and Master's in Organic Chemistry from Scottish Church College under the University of Calcutta. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Subsequently, he moved to Harvard Medical School for postdoctoral research. At the same time, he worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Since December 2020, he is working as an Assistant Professor of Biology in the Trivedi School of Biosciences at Ashoka University.

Personal life

and by nature

Basudeb is down to earth and humble by nature (at least he thinks so!). Apart from academic interest, he loves many other activities including gardening and vegetation, photography, traveling, listening to music, and cooking (it's just another chemistry)! He likes to interact with any kind of people with a possibility.

Some of his favorites|| flower: Rajnigandha, bird: Red-whiskered bulbul, fruit: Mango, Color: Blue/Maroon; animal: calves, visiting places: hill stations, game: cricket, food: Indian/Mughlai; Music: Bengali/Hindi.

A Proud Alumnus of the Great Schools
